Pattern Definition
Pattern - Pattern refers to a repeated decorated design. In photography, patterns create interesting and brings visual rhythm and harmony to photographs. The photo below shows pattern.
Four Annotated Images
This image shows pattern very well due to the repeated lines of windows. The image has added interest in the form of the people who are looking out of them. Also, the diagonal formation of the windows allows the viewers eye to be guided up through the image which assists in the recognition of pattern.
This image presents pattern well due to the uniform arrangement of the tea lights. The odd candle which does not have a flame adds interest to the image as it presents a random alteration in the distinct pattern which helps the eye to focus on the candles which are lit and therefore assists with the recognition of the pattern which is formed with the candles.
Like the image above, the pattern of the green apples is made clearer by having the random change in pattern in the form of the red apple. I like this image as I feel it presents pattern in a more natural form.
This image obviously presents a pattern but also shows very intricate details within the pattern. I also like the colours as it makes the pattern more appealing and helps with the audiences recognition that the image shows a form of pattern.
