Texture - Texture refers to the feel, appearance and consistency of a surface. In photography, texture is a way to draw in the viewers eye and make the image more interesting and attractive. The photo below shows texture.
Four Annotated Images
This image presents the theme of texture through the means of the stripes in the feather. As well as the element of texture, this image is very effective due to the design that is part of the feather which is very bright. This therefore makes the image very appealing.
This image is successful in presenting texture due to the water droplets on the leaf surface. This creates texture due to the fact that the water droplets appear to be raised up from the rest of the leaf surface. In addition to texture, the bugs which are on the leaf helps to make an interesting image due to the fact that their colour is complimentary to the green leaf.
This image presents texture in a very simplistic form. I think that the dull colours assist in the successful portrayal of texture as they stop the viewers eye from being distracted by the element of colour.
This image presents texture in a natural form with is very effective as it is very close up which allows more detail to be shown in the leafs surface and therefore a more intricate form of texture is shown.
